On the afternoon of Thursday, 25 June 2026 , Lieutenant General Long Kimheng, Vice Rector (Acting), representing H.E Lieutenant General Dok Sopha, Rector of the National Defense University (NDU), received a courtesy call and held a working discussion with a delegation from the Royal Military College of Canada (RMCC). The delegation was led by Lieutenant Colonel Paul Payne, Head of the Office of the Canadian Defence Attaché to the Kingdom of Cambodia. It is noteworthy that, under the visionary leadership of H.E Lieutenant General Dok Sopha as Rector, the National Defense University has actively welcomed and promoted the strengthening and expansion of bilateral cooperation with the Canadian Defense Academy. In particular, from 18 to 22 November 2025, the National Defense University, serving as co-host and co-chair together with the Canadian Defense Academy, successfully organized the 27th ASEAN Regional Forum Heads of Defense Universities, Colleges and Institutions Meeting (ARF HDUCIM). The meeting achieved fruitful outcomes and marked a historic milestone for the National Defense University. Subsequently, in December 2025, the two institutions jointly organized an Intermediate Course on the Law of Armed Conflict (LOAC), which was also conducted successfully.
In strict adherence to the policies of the Ministry of National Defence, the National Defense University, in collaboration with the Department of Personnel of the Ministry of National Defence, has been conducting troop inspection for all leaders, military instructors, educational staff, students, and trainees under the university, effective from 16 June 2026 onward.
Under the high attention, guidance, and support of Lieutenant General DOK SOPHA, Rector of the National Defense University, on Friday, 11 June 2026, Major General SON SAMBATH, Vice Rector, led the National Defense University Basketball Team to participate in the 2026 National Higher Education and Technical Secondary Education Basketball Championship, held under the theme “Sport for Education.” Through outstanding teamwork, discipline, determination, and athletic excellence, the National Defense University Basketball Team demonstrated remarkable performance throughout the competition and successfully secured the First Place Championship Trophy for 2026. This distinguished achievement not only reflects the talent, capability, and competitive spirit of the university’s students but also highlights the National Defense University’s commitment to developing well-rounded individuals who excel academically, professionally, physically, and ethically. On 6th June 2026, His Excellency Lieutenant General Dok Sophea, Rector of the National Defense University and Head of the Royal Government Working Group for Meanchey Commune, continued to lead the National Defense University Volunteer Medical Team to provide free medical examinations and treatment to local residents in Meanchey Commune, Prasat Bakong District, Siem Reap Province.
On the afternoon of Monday, 1 June 2026, the National Defense University had the honor of organizing a lecture under the theme “General Context of Artificial Intelligence (AI)”, presided over by His Excellency Professor Dr. Chhem Kiat Rithy, Senior Minister and Chairman of the Council for Economic, Social and Cultural Affairs. This lecture was of strategic significance for the leadership, staff, military lecturers, and students of the National Defense University, as it enhanced their understanding of the opportunities, challenges, and implications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies within the context of national security and defense. Furthermore, the lecture contributed to strengthening human resource capacity and preparedness to respond to the rapid evolution of the global technological landscape. It also supported efforts to improve operational effectiveness, education, research, and institutional development, ensuring greater modernization and alignment with the demands of the digital era.
On the morning of Tuesday, May 26, 2026, His Excellency Lieutenant General DOK Sopha, Rector of the National Defense University, attended the ceremony commemorating the 163rd Anniversary of World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day (May 8, 2026), held under the high presidency of His Excellency General Tea Seiha, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense, and Chairman of the Royal Government Working Group in Koh Kong Province.
In the early morning of Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the invitation of the Australian Embassy in Phnom Penh, His Excellency Lieutenant General DOK Sopha, Rector of the National Defence University, led a university delegation in attending the 2026 ANZAC Day commemorative program held at the Australian Embassy in the Kingdom of Cambodia. The event honored the memory of soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in battle, as well as those currently serving in various roles, including peacekeeping missions.

It further strengthens the institution’s commitment to working alongside the Royal Government in maintaining peace, social order, and advancing national development across all sectors, under the wise, forward-looking, and pragmatic leadership of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, who is deeply respected and cherished by the Cambodian armed forces and people.
On the morning of Friday, February 27, 2026, His Excellency Lieutenant General Dok Sopha, Rector of the National Defense University, presided over a certificate awarding ceremony. On this occasion, he had the honor of presenting certificates of completion, certificates of position affiliation, public accounting skills certificates, and first-level advanced accounting certificates to students of the National Defense University who successfully graduated from the Institute of Economics and Finance.
On Tuesday morning, March 17, 2026, His Excellency Lieutenant General DOK Sopha, Rector of the National Defense University, met with a delegation from the Institute for Security Governance (ISG) of the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency to discuss the possibility of cooperating in assisting a national security training program at the National Defense University.
On Monday morning, March 16, 2026, in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the National Defense University, His Excellency Lieutenant General Dok Sopha, Rector of the National Defense University, led a delegation and 60 students, comprising 30 graduates of the 2025 cohort and 30 prospective participants for the 2026 cohort to attend the closing ceremony and certificate distribution of the Technical Skills Training Program, as well as the opening of the 2026 course at the Institute of Economics and Finance, under the distinguished presidency of His Excellency Dr. Hean Sahib, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
